You can’t miss these great remixes from…

The deadline has passed. Another milestone  in my humble career as a DIY musician is approaching the finish line. I reviewed all of the submitted remixes and have picked Andy as the Grand Prize Winner receiving Neutron (Standard) by Izotope and ROLI’s Equator. Congratulations!

The runner-ups are Millennium Mike and Chiapexx who will also be featured on the upcoming release. Thanks to everyone who collaborated with me, Check out their fresh remixes below:

The first prize goes to the first one to enter the remix competition. Just a coincidence? Not really. Andy is a real contender for the win every time. I liked how he took the themes and meshed them up just the right way. Thanks, Bro. Be sure to follow him on social. Links are found in his blend account.

Though I felt Andy’s was the most innovative of the remixes, they were all really great. So Enjoy them all. Thanks to both of you for putting in the time and creativity. Very much appreciated. Be sure to follow them on social as well. (see blend account for details.)

German songwriter/producer Markus Adams is known for this signature ambient electronic instrumental music popular among the Blend community. Markus has released a follow up to his Blend release NOWwhich is a concept album called NYC Nights.

Markus bought a cheap field recorder and was inspired by the big city’s constant sound from Sirens to Jackhammers to buzzing people to create an incredible new record fusing influences of Rock to Jazz to EDM to Classical. Markus Adams has published the stems for his pulsating dreamy pop anthem “No Gummy Bears For The Genie” and wants to collaborate with the Blend community to hear new remixes

The runner ups will have their remix featured on Markus’ remix release. Start exploring his awesome track and let’s start making music

“Remix contests are both fun and educational”

I am so thrilled that blend.io is again giving me this incredible opportunity for showcasing my music. Remixing is fun and educational at the same time. I do it constantly between making my own tracks. It is a great way to get some insight into other producers projects. Eventually this is also the way I won my Seaboard Rise25, a professional Mix from Grammy nominated Mixing Engineer Brent Kolatalo. And in the end it even led to my first EP release “NOW” on the blend label.

So if you are making electronic music be sure to check it out. I have given you the full Stems and some Midi Parts. But you are not required to use more than one of the tracks. Have fun with it, rework it any way you like and give it your twist. The offered prizes are well worth a few hours of  fun with your favorite pass-time. I am looking forward to reviewing your remixes. Bpm is 123 Key is Ebmaj. Oh and if you want to know the origin story of this album and the track, just go read it here on my blog or on the track descriptions on Bandcamp.

And while you’re thinking about your remix, be sure to follow me on SpotifyApple MusicAmazon Music or wherever you’re listening to your music.

Thanks for reading, thanks for listening, enjoy making music

NYC Nights – Cruising Through The Night – Full video released on Youtube

Dear friends, Hi folks,

the final full video for NYC Nights has been released on Youtube. This one was the frist graphic video I did. The idea was to create a NYC City scene and move it slowly to the scene shown in the full album cover. I feel it turned out to be quite nice. I did it all with quite simple tools. Using Photoshop Elements and Premiere Elements as well as the free tool  Inkscape.

The whole idea of creating a graphic video and  slowly creating a cover scene for the new album took quite some time. Decisions are never easy and I hope you like the outcome as well as the underlying tune. Cruising Through The Night was the first track I created for the album and set the tone for one half of the more jazz rock inspired tunes.

I am currently working on more video ideas, probably based on the photos on videos from our trip to NY. Looking forward to your opinions. Post them here or  on my social media. Thanks for listening and viewing anyway.

NYC Nights – New Album Out Now on Bandcamp

Today I released my next full album on bandcamp. It is a concept album describing the emotions and impressions I had when visiting New York City in October 2017. This is a pre-release. The full release on all major streaming sites will follow in the next days.

The story of NYC Nights

In September 2017 we got the wicked idea of why not spend a second holiday this year in New York. We had wanted to go several times in the last 10 years, but never had gone. We decided and booked on a whim and sure enough in October we found ourselves in the big apple. I recently had bought a cheap field recorder just to try it out and what an opportunity it was.

New York isn’t just a city of light but of constant sound. You cannot escape it. From sirens to jackhammers to buzzing people. The ever humming sounds just engulf you and finally inspire the musician in you. I had to do something with it. So the raw idea was born. I first thought of using most of the sounds rhythmically i.e. for making beats and but the project soon took on a life of its own. Sometimes the tracks developed out of the sound i.e. the Jackhammer wake-up service, sometimes an idea was complimented by certain sounds i.e. street sounds and accelerating cars or just the idea survived and a track came from nowhere. It certainly is funny the way inspiration works …

And so is life. In January the project stopped as I got stopped by my internal beat Maschine loosing its rhythm. (heart attack) This, in a way, at the same time stalled and sped up the project as I am currently forced to stay at home, which gave me plenty of time to finish the album. As is my fashion it spans from Rock to Jazz to Electronica. Some classical ideas and EDM are in there too. If I can find one listener who enjoys the whole album as I did I’d be very lucky. The mood of the album feels a bit melancholic at times, so I wanted it to end on a fun track. The track title is an in joke only my family and our friends in New York will understand(, or any parent with young children high on sugar.)

So as always Listen, enjoy, tell your friends and foes about it.

Love, Markus
